On Friday, Bild stated Leeds United have pulled away from signing 1. FC Köln’s Dejan Ljubičić, after the price went too high and too many people tried to get involved in the deal. It was also reported the second division Germany club were left angered with agents trying to push a deal through.
The midfielder has less than a year left on his deal and has been keen on joining the Whites this summer.
A fresh report from Bild again states his dream of joining Leeds has been shattered. It’s not just his club who were left angered, but also his agent, Volker Struth.
He’s been representing the player since he parted ways with his former agent, Dirk Hebel, after a move to VfL Wolfsburg collapsed last summer.
Struth has dumped the Austria international, after finding it ‘increasingly difficult’ to work with him in recent weeks. That’s because ‘more and more people’ close to Ljubičić started muscling in on his future.
It’s claimed they have tried to egineer a move to Leeds United despite the German club blocking it.
Köln were also surprised when these people started appearing at the club on behalf of Ljubičić. Struth wasn’t pleased with this and has informed the player that he will longer represent him.
Bild say Ljubičić has been changing agents like ‘football shoes’ and has had five agents in the last year and a half.
The behaviour of Ljubičić and those around him hasn’t changed, resulting in Struth being the fifth agent to part with him in recent years.
Meanwhile, Köln head of football Thomas Kessler is now looking forward to retaining the player.
“Our tendency is clear: We want to keep Dejan. We don’t participate in any other speculation,” Bild quote him as saying.
