As you’ll know, transfer windows are full of twists and turns and in the case of Matías Vecino that is proving to be the case.
For all intents and purposes, the midfielder is on his way out of Inter Milan this month as they make room for Christian Eriksen.
Everton are keen on the midfielder, with Carlo Ancelotti looking to add reinforcements to central midfield this month.
Sevilla are interested in the Uruguayan as well, although reports indicated that Everton were leading the race for his signature.
Then, yesterday, his agent appeared to pour cold water on the whole thing by stating his client was happy at Inter Milan, and they hadn’t even discussed an exit.
Fast forward to today, though, and Gazzetta Dello Sport have a completely different take on the situation.
They say that Vecino is one of the ‘main suspects’ for a departure this month and his agent met with the club yesterday to ‘take stock of the situation’.
While he claimed to the press that they were there for other reasons, Gazzetta insist ‘the reality is different’, and he will be moved on.
At the moment, he ‘does not see any buyers’, although Everton like the midfielder.
Lazio are also interested and made a loan proposal, but Inter want a full sale to aid their finances.
That suggests that at this moment in time, Everton are also only proposing a loan deal, and until that changes, there may not be much movement on the transfer front.
