It seems that Paolo Hurtado is very unlikely to stay at Reading beyond the summer. After spending one and a half years on loan at Vitória de Guimarães, the player’s priority is to remain in Portugal, his agent has revealed.

Representative Elio Casareto spoke to Peru’s Ovación on Wednesday, and wasn’t afraid to say his client’s future should lie nowhere near the Championship side.

First speaking about the options Hurtado has for next season, Casareto said: “For now we’re analysing the renewal with Vitória Guimaraes and an offer that came out in the last minute. In the next few days there may be news.”

Then he talked about how happy the player is at Vitória: “For now the Portuguese league has the priority, but while there isn’t anything signed I can’t be sure for you.

“Paolo is happy at the club, they have behaved well with him, it is an important club that will play an international tournament.”

Hurtado signed for Reading from Paços de Ferreira in the summer of 2015, but only spent six months at the club before being sent to Vitória de Guimarães on loan.

With his contract with Reading side expiring next year, the club would have to renew his deal now or he will be able to leave for free after a possible new loan.
