Things had already been going perfectly fine for Manchester City loanee Pedro Porro at Sporting. Now the free-kick goal he scored at the weekend really took it to a new level.

Newspaper A Bola today features a two-page story about the fullback, in which they talk about his entire career until the moment he joined the Lions.

The outlet managed to speak to Porro’s agent, Toni Pla, who claimed that Manchester City gave them several options for a loan, and they went for the Portuguese side.

“City proposed six or seven clubs to us but in the end Betis and Sporting remained. We decided for Sporting and now I can say that was in a good time,” Toni Pla told A Bola.

The most interesting thing here is probably the chances that the Lisbon side have of keeping him from Manchester City. There’s a buying option which Sporting can trigger at any time, and his agent has now confirmed it.

“Yes, it is true that Sporting can exercise the option when they decide, he’s safe.”

“He knew that Sporting were a big club but he didn’t imagine it was that big. He’s surprised and very happy. At this point he’s doing very well at Sporting.”

Manchester City spent €12m to sign Porro and may now see him leave for less than that, without giving him a single chance of playing for the club. If things continue to look this good for the fullback, perhaps the Premier League side will regret that move soon.
