The agent of Hamburg forward Tatsuya Ito has told the German media they’re in talks to extend his client’s contract with the Bundesliga side.

The Japanese youngster has again been linked with Manchester City, after the Premier League side previously tried to sign the player in 2015.

Speaking to Hamburger Morgenpost, Jun Yamazaki was asked about Ito’s contract talks with Hamburg, and the interest from other clubs: “It was first preliminary talks and it went very well.”

Ito signed for Hamburg two seasons ago, and at the time Manchester City were also trying to sign the 20 year old. The English side came in with an offer for the forward, but he took the decision to head to Germany.

Despite Pep Guardiola now being the manager at the Etihad it seems Manchester City are still showing an interest in Ito, and they could look to land him on free next summer, when his contract expires at Hamburg.

Serie A giants Inter Milan are also reported to be interested in Ito.
