Last week Russian outlet Sport Express speculated Mario Pasalic could be leaving Chelsea for Spartak Moscow, and that Antonio Conte had agreed to his departure.
At that time, Betis were also battling for his signature, with claims Pasalic preferred a move to Spain instead of Russia.
However, Croatian website Tportal have today spoken to the Chelsea player’s agent Marko Naletilić and he’s confirmed his client is close to a move to Spartak Moscow.
Pasalic has never played a league match in a Chelsea shirt, but recently signed a new two-year contract with the Premier League side. It seems Chelsea see potential in the youngster, and it’s still possible he could to break into their first team in the future.
However, it looks like Pasalic is set for another loan, the fourth as a Chelsea player. After loan spells with Elche, Monaco and AC Milan, it looks like Pasalic will spend the next season at Spartak Moscow after comments from his agent.
“Our negotiations with Chelsea and Spartak Moscow were both successful. At the moment we are travelling from London to Rome, where Mario will undergo a medical. If everything is fine, and we do not doubt it, Mario will travel to Moscow on Wednesday.” said Naletilić.
According to Tportal the main reason for Pasalic choosing Spartak is their participation in the Champions League. Also, his annual salary will be more than €2m.
