On winter deadline day, Manchester City completed the signing of Nico González from FC Porto by activating his €60m release clause.
The defensive midfielder, represented by Jorge Mendes, has been a regular since joining the Citizens.
Monday’s edition of Record has detailed the commission collected by Mendes from the 23-year-old’s transfer to Manchester City.
Porto published on Portal da Transparência that they have paid €10.5m in commission to agents for operations carried out in the winter market.
The majority of the money went to González’s agent and Giuliano Bertolucci for transferring Galeno from Porto to Al-Ahli in January. Record says Mendes’ agency, Gestifute, received €5.7m from the Spaniard’s sale to Manchester City, and the latter collected €4.75m.
Pep Guardiola has started the midfielder in four games for the English club and he scored in Manchester City’s 3-1 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The former Barcelona man played 78 minutes in Manchester City’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday. After the tie, he had a chat with DAZN and A Bola have relayed his comments.
González sent a message to the Porto fans after making a switch to Manchester City.
“Especially to FC Porto fans, not for all of Portugal, but it’s a place where I was very happy. The truth is that they gave me the opportunity to be here and for that I will always be very grateful to all Porto fans,” he said.
