Newcastle United and West Ham United are in the mix to sign Lazio star Sergej Milinković-Savić in the summer window.
The Serbia international has a deal expiring in 2024 and has no intention to leave the Serie A side as a free agent. He’s aiming for a transfer after this season and has agreed with his agent and Lazio to find the ‘most profitable solution’ possible from his sale.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who cover Newcastle and West Ham interest in a report that discusses the midfielder’s future.
Milinković-Savić, who has six goals and eight assists from 30 matches in all competitions this season, has struggled after the World Cup. He’s hopeful he can help the Biancocelesti finish in the top four, and they’re currently fifth, two points behind fourth placed AS Roma.
If the ex-Genk man drags Lazio to the top four finish, it would convince other clubs to bet on him in the next window. Premier League sides are showing interest and this is when Newcastle and West Ham are tagged.
It’s said the 27-year-old’s agent, Mateja Kežman, has ‘collected offers’ of around €40m from Eddie Howe’s side and the Hammers. That’s all Calciomercato has to say about the two English clubs.
Milinković-Savić hasn’t made a decision on his next destination and if this report is to be believed, Newcastle and West Ham will be among his options.
