Chelsea are yet to allow Antonio Conte leave the Blues and appoint Maurizio Sarri as his successor at Stamford Bridge. The latter is reportedly set to replace the former Italy coach at the west London club.
The rumours about players joining Chelsea in the summer transfer window haven’t stopped, despite the managerial situation at the club. One of the targets for the FA Cup winners is said to be Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain.
Sport Mediaset reported the former Real Madrid striker is close to joining Chelsea. They claimed the Premier League outfit have agreed a €60m deal for the Argentine international.
Higuain has three years left on his contract at the Allianz Stadium, having joined the Old Lady from Napoli in 2016. He played under Sarri for one season at the Stadio San Paolo.
The South American star’s brother, Nicolas Higuain, who is also his agent has revealed the striker considers Sarri as his “football father”, but stressed his client is happy with his current employers.
“Their [Higuain and Sarri] relationship is fantastic, Gonzalo considers him his football father. However, Sarri is still not the Chelsea manager and Gonzalo has a three years left on his contract and is happy with Juventus,” Nicolas told Sky Italia.
