Wolverhampton Wanderers may have been handed an opportunity to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Giovanni Reyna, although they’d have to accept it would come with a fair amount of additional drama.
SportBILD cover the player today and explain the 21-year-old reportedly wants to leave BVB this month despite having a contract that runs until 2025.
They say that an exit is becoming ‘more likely’ and relay information from elsewhere that backs this up, which claims Reyna is determined to get out as quickly as possible.
The midfielder recently changed his agent to Jorge Mendes and he, alongside the player’s father, are working to find the best possible transfer for him. Reyna’s father has already met with Dortmund and held a one-hour meeting with sporting director Sebastien Kehl in December regarding his son’s future.
Reyna is being offered around Europe in the hope of someone biting. Various clubs have already said no but Wolves remain one of the ‘possible targets’ to be looked at.
That would presumably come courtesy of Mendes’ close links to the club and the numerous deals he’s done for Wolves down the years.
Given Wolves’ financial situation they would presumably look at a loan, perhaps with an option to buy, something it seems Dortmund would be open to.
That’s something to be explored this month but there’s a deal to be done, with Reyna ‘extremely dissatisfied’ and determined to leave, something Mendes is working on making a reality.
The question is whether Wolves want the hassle of tying themselves further to Mendes and the drama that comes with Reyna, who has attracted plenty of it in recent years and seems to want to add some more to the pile in the January transfer window.
