Empoli achieved promotion to the top flight after finishing first in Serie B last season and brought int several players in the summer of 2021. For the attack, they took Patrick Cutrone on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Apart from the 24-year-old, Empoli also signed Andrea Pinamonti, again on loan, from Inter Milan last summer.
The Wolves owned player has started only 13 games and has come off the bench 13 times in the league this season. He’s found the back of the net on two occasions. Pinamonti, on the other hand, has starred for Emploi, scoring 13 goals from 35 matches [31 starts].
Cutrone has over a year left on his deal at Molineux and has to find a definitive solution in the summer. La Repubblica have published a detailed interview with Italian agent Federico Pastorello, whose client list includes the former AC Milan man.
When asked if Cutrone will continue at Empoli, Pastorello said: “Unfortunately, during the season it became clear that Pinamonti and Cutrone, who are close friends, do not complement each other due to their characteristics.
“The coach realised this, now we have to find a solution for Patrick, no longer on loan because we are finally in the last year [of his contract] with Wolverhampton.”
