Marseille continue scraping around for a big striker striker signing, and Leicester City’s Islam Slimani keeps popping up.
Slimani was so impressive at Sporting but he moved to a Leicester side which wasn’t exactly crying out for him and hasn’t been able to have a similar impact.
Given the stature the player had at Sporting it would be no surprise if he fancies a move somewhere else, but Leicester aren’t going to make that easy.
The Algerian was a big investment for the Foxes and has shown enough to suggest he could be an adequate fill in for Jamie Vardy should the England player get injured.
Marseille have an outline interest in Slimani, as they seem to have in an endless number of strikers, but they feel he’d cost too much compared to his age.
At 29 years of age, Slimani would provide little chance of investment potential, and his value is unlikely to go beyond what Leicester City paid for him.
Therefore, other options are preferable for Marseille right now, but it’ll be no surprise if each time the French club hit a transfer dead end this week, Slimani comes under consideration again.
