In the last transfer window, we covered various claims from France about Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest in Lille’s Boubakary Soumaré.
At that point in time, the midfielder had only eight Ligue 1 starts under his belt and he’s gone on to add 12 more starts this season.
RMC Sport’s Mohamed Bouhafsi reported in July that Lille accepted Wanderers’ €40m offer for the 20-year-old, but the player himself rejected Nuno Espírito Santo’s side because he wanted to play in the Champions League. This was also relayed by L’Equipe in August.
La Voix du Nord now claims there are six to eight clubs who are currently negotiating with Lille for the Frenchman and his employer may find it complicated to retain him until the end of the season.
The report once again relays Wolves were one of the first clubs to take steps over signing Soumaré in the summer.
It’s explained Soumaré is ‘attracted’ to England, but the newspaper mentions an option to make a switch to Molineux in January has been ruled out.
