In the winter market, RB Leipzig allowed Timo Werner to join Tottenham Hotspur on a loan deal with an option to buy.
Last week, Leipzig manager Marco Rose stated that his side could lose the forward to the north London club in the summer.
Sky Deutschland now report the 28-year-old has ‘no future’ at the Bundesliga side.
The Germany international has managed two goals and two assists from eight league appearances for Tottenham. Ange Postecoglou’s side are pleased with his performances so far and Werner is also happy with his life in London.
Spurs can make the former Chelsea man’s stay permanent for €17m and they have now received encouragement as the player isn’t keen on returning to the German club.
Werner’s deal at Leipzig lasts until 2026, but the report states the two parties want to permanently cut ties after this season. He’s the top earner at the Bundesliga side and his sale would help them lower their wage bill.
Tottenham have an advantage to buy Werner because of the purchase option. Earlier this month, Bild reported the €17m buying option for Spurs is valid until June 14th.
Time will tell whether or not Spurs will exercise this option.
