New Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Bosz is planning for life without Matthias Ginter, report German newspaper Bild.
Ginter, 23 years of age, is currently at the Confederations Cup with Germany and has a Dortmund contract until June 2019. Despite having a couple of years left on his deal, Bild say Bosz is preparing to set up his side without the World Cup winner.
This is where Tottenham come in. Along with Borussia Monchengladbach, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are picked out as the ‘hottest’ destination, meaning Bild believes the two are likely options.
With it being a World Cup season, Bild say Ginter wants to play in UEFA competition to impress Jogi Low, and that gives Champions League club Spurs an advantage.
Bild say it’s ‘Advantage Tottenham’, but also point out it would be more difficult for Ginter to become important for Spurs than it would at Gladbach, where he’d walk in with a senior status.
A transfer is priced at around €18m, and Dortmund are quite prepared for a sale. With Marc Bartra, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Sven Bender, and new boy Ömer Toprak, Bosz has plenty of options.
Ginter would also face tough compewtition at Tottenham, but could be an option depending on how Pochettino wants to set up next season.
