Aston Villa star Youri Tielemans believes he is now at his consistent best, thanks to the work that Unai Emery has been doing with him.
De Standaard have an interview with the Aston Villa midfielder today in which he admits he thinks he’s finally found the consistency he was long looking for.
Tielemans now finds himself as a permanent fixture in Aston Villa’s starting 11, with the departure of Douglas Luiz to Juventus in the summer opening up a space in the team.
The 27-year-old has made 13 appearances in all competition to date, starring alongside Amadou Onana in the centre of the midfield as the Villans have looked to kick on once again.
It’s been a major turnaround for Tielemans, who spent most of last season battling to get into the picture under Emery and surrounded by questions about his future at Villa Park.
Now he’s a key member and rewarding that faith with performances, managing four assists and one goal in 13 games in all competitions so far.
The midfielder has already credited Emery with the improvement he’s showing, admitting that the Spanish boss is the perfect manager for him and has drilled his tactics into him in the time they’ve been working together.
And now he admits he’s thinks he’s at his best because of that and isn’t afraid to admit as much when asked directly about it.
“Actually, yes. I am now the best Tielemans ever,” he said.
“I think I have made a lot of progress, both technically and physically and defensively. I am consistently at a good level. Every match I try to do a little better, to be even more decisive.”
