Son Heung-min being in great form Tottenham Hotspur is of course great news for the English club, but it’s bad news for two German teams. In Wolfsburg’s case it kills their dream of signing the player in the winter transfer window.
Spurs rejected the move in the summer, so it was always going to be a big ask, but given Son’s increased importance it’s now almost impossible for the German club. Their Bundesliga colleagues at Bayer Leverkusen should also be worried, says German magazine SportBild, and they send out an ‘Achtung’ message to the club.
Son used to play for Bayer Leverkusen, and it’s explained that he has a pretty decent record of scoring against former clubs.
Tottenham face West Brom at the weekend, before their Champions League match against Bayer on Tuesday. Son will be returning to a club where he did well and will hope the welcome isn’t too bad, but will will more hope he finds the back of the net.
For Bayer, Son scored three times in three games against his former club Hamburg, and now the pattern may be repeated.
Son is quoted by SportBild as saying: “I think both teams play very attractive football and the fans can look forward to a great game.”
