It seems the Europa League clash is not the only competition going on between Arsenal and AC Milan. According to Calcio Mercato today, there’s also a player who these clubs are fighting for, and should battle for until the summer.

The target is Max Meyer, from Schalke 04, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

As reported by the Italian website, Milan officials have recently met Fabio Parisi, the intermediary who’s been dealing with the player’s offers from Italy.

The problem for Milan is that Meyer would be keen on a Premier League move. And with Jack Wilshere’s departure from Arsenal this summer being talked up in Italy, the Gunners would be interested in the German midfielder to replace him.

It’s not only the Italian press who have been putting Arsenal as a serious contender for the player.

German magazine SportBild recently did the same, saying that Barcelona would also be in the race.
