Juventus ‘do not stand much chance’ of signing Jules Kounde from Sevilla, with Chelsea at the front of the queue for his signature.
That’s according to TuttoJuve, who say the Blues are in an ‘ideal position’ to finally sign the French centre back this summer.
Kounde was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge last summer, but Chelsea were unable to reach an agreement with Sevilla, who demanded that the defender’s release clause be met.
Chelsea never reached that figure after splashing €100m on Romelu Lukaku, and so, despite having his heart set on the move, Kounde remained in Spain.
He’s still a key player for the La Liga side but is widely expected to leave this summer, particularly as Sevilla posted big debts which need to be fixed this time around.
Chelsea are believed to be pushing hard to get him again, with them having to replace Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta, all of whom look likely to leave on a free transfer.
Reports in Spain and England have put them at the front of the queue for Kounde’s signature, and TuttoJuve say the same.
According to them, the Blues are in an ‘ideal position’ to sign Kounde and are currently ahead of the competition in the race, namely Real Madrid and Juventus.
The former are ‘trying to fit in’ to the fight and could be successful, while Juventus have also ‘tried to sound out’ the situation and get themselves involved.
Unfortunately, though, it’s stated that they ‘do no stand much of a chance’, largely because Chelsea are so advanced in their efforts to get the defender.
At this point, it seems they’re on the brink of finally getting their man, with reports in three countries now putting them firmly in the driving seat.
