AC Milan could make a move for Southampton full-back Cedric Soares in their ongoing search for a right-back.
The Serie A side have long been on the hunt for a new player in the position and have previously been linked with the likes of Serge Aurier and Djibril Sidibé.
It’s an issue they are looking to resolve in the January transfer window, and their next target may be Soares.
That’s according to Calciomercatoweb.it, who say the former Inter right-back is on AC Milan’s list of potential recruits.
The website claims that Milan are looking at ‘low-cost’ options to try and solve the problem, particularly if Davide Calabria should depart.
Soares is one such option as his contract at Southampton is expiring next summer and is ‘unlikely’ to sign a new deal on the South Coast.
He is currently a part of Ralph Hassenhuttl’s plans but made it clear in an interview in England last month that he would not be staying at Southampton beyond this season.
That’s seemingly attracted Milan, who will presumably push for as low cost a deal as possible and should be able to use his expiring contract to help them do so.
Calciomercatoweb don’t give any figures, or cite whether Soares would be keen, although he did spend last season on loan at Inter Milan so has experience of Italian football.
