The Milan derby takes centre stage in Serie A this weekend as AC and Inter go head-to-head at the San Siro.
AC Milan head into Sunday’s game on the back of a thrilling penalty shoot-out success against Lazio in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia.
Gennaro Gattuso’s side have taken 20 points from their last eight Serie A games, but they still trail fourth-placed Inter by seven points.
However, Inter have won just two of their last 11 league matches and are in serious danger of dropping out of the Champions League places if they continue in the same vein.
Milan beat Inter 1-0 after extra time when the two sides met in the cup back in December to gain their revenge for a 3-2 league defeat against their local rivals earlier in the season.
Milan can field a full squad other than long term absentee Andrea Conti, while Inter boss Luciano Spalletti has no major injury worries.
Despite investing heavily in Nikola Kalinic and Andre Silva last summer, it is youth product Patrick Cutrone who has provided Milan’s biggest goal threat in recent matches.
Cutrone has scored in each of his last four Serie A appearances as well as performing well in the Europa League. The 20-year-old is priced at 7/4 to add to his tally on Sunday and he could be worth an interest at those odds.
Milan’s defence is also much improved from the start of the season with just two goals conceded in their last five matches. They can be backed at 14/5 to win to nil.
Inter have kept only one clean sheet in their last seven league matches and that was against bottom of the table strugglers Benevento.
Andrea Ranocchia was on the scoresheet for Inter in that game and he is available at 10/1 to repeat the feat this weekend.
However, they have lost just two of their last 14 league meetings with Milan and they will be desperate to continue that dominance on Sunday.
The last four league clashes between these two sides have produced 14 goals and odds of 11/4 for over 3.5 goals in this weekend’s match look tempting.
Milan’s recent record against Inter is a cause for concern, but this is game they must win if they are to retain any hope of finishing in the top four.
The home side look a decent bet at 7/5 to pick up three points on Sunday. More ambitious punters may fancy wagering on a 3-1 scoreline at 20/1.
