With Flamengo getting close to finding a deal for the permanent signing of Andreas Pereira from Manchester United, their fans have mixed feelings about this transfer.
The Brazilian side had an option to buy the midfielder for €20m. Following talks with the Red Devils, they could find an agreement for about half of that, and that’s still considered to be too much by many people.
One of those who’ve been speaking out is Coluna do Fla‘s journalist Tulio Rodrigues. On a video conversation about the signing last night, he labelled the price for Pereira ‘absurd’, since the player hasn’t proven he’s worth that much.
“In my opinion, he’s not worth that money, and not even close, I think it’s a lot of money for him. Even because he played 25 games for Flamengo, and it’s too little even to know what can be expected from Andreas. I wouldn’t pay that amount for him,” said Tulio Rodrigues.
“That’s value for a consolidated guy. What guarantees that Flamengo, disbursing this sum for Andreas, will be able to recover this money? I find it very difficult. And it could even be for any other player. I think that even if Flamengo actually pay this amount for him, the demand on him will also be much higher. But I think this amount for Andreas is absurd.”
Most outlets in Brazil believe Manchester United and Flamengo are now sorting the final details out for the move. Even though Pereira is loaned to the Rio de Janeiro side until the summer, there was an urge to get the business done as soon as possible.
Reports say it will be done for around €10.5m, with the Red Devils having 25% of a future sale.
