Most times Brazilian star Gabriel Barbosa is linked to a Premier League move, West Ham United are named as one of the main contenders for the signing. That’s a rumour which has been going on for years, and was recently back in the spotlight.
Reports from Europe said at the weekend that the Hammers are still interested in the 25-year-old, with Brighton & Hove Albion and Atalanta involved in the race as well.
Now it didn’t take long for the Brazilian media to respond to it, and journalist Jorge Nicola came up to quickly dismiss the rumours.
On YouYube, the reporter claims to have spoken to both Gabigol’s representatives and his club Flamengo. And the reports regarding West Ham’s interest were turned down by both of his sources.
According to Nicola, Gabigol’s entourage say there’s ‘no approach, no proposal’, while the Rio de Janeiro club claim ‘absolutely nothing’ has arrived for the player.
It’s claimed that the striker’s departure isn’t even being considered for now, at least while Flamengo don’t receive an offer for the striker, who has four goals in only five appearances this season so far.
