Manchester United have managed one win in the last seven matches in all competitions and that came against Tottenham Hotspur on March 12th.

It’s been close to a month the Red Devils have gone without tasting victory and there is still no clarity over their next permanent manager. For the past few weeks, Ajax’s Erik ten Hag has been reported as the leading candidate to take the Old Trafford job.

On Sunday, De Telegraaf stated RB Leipzig want to recruit the Dutchman after this term. It’s claimed the Bundesliga side are ready to pay the €2m fee to the Amsterdam club to take the manager away from Ajax.

Leipzig already looked at Ten Hag last December, after parting ways with Jesse Marsch. However, the 52-year-old didn’t leave Ajax and the German club ended up appointing Domenico Tedesco.

Although the English club were on pole in recent weeks, De Telegraaf state the ‘battle seems wide open again’ following Leipzig’s arrival. As per the report, ‘much will depend’ on the sporting project presented to the Eredivisie coach when making decision on his next club.

Meanwhile, claims made by De Telegraaf have been quickly dismissed in Germany. Sport1 state Leipzig, who identified Ten Hag as one of the candidates in the past, are ‘completely satisfied’ with Tedesco.

It’s even stressed the Ajax manager is ‘still the top candidate’ to become Manchester United’s next permanent manager.

Sport1 journalist Patrick Berger took to Twitter to explain that reports of Leipzig trying to hijack Ten Hag from United are ‘absolutely nonsense’.
