We thought Don Balon had received some treatment for their Mohamed Salah to Real Madrid obsession and got over it.
After initially claiming Real Madrid were keen, they then decided on a €200m fee for the player. As that was too much for Real Madrid, Don Balon decided to throw Gareth Bale in. But when, in the works of their imagination, he then turned Liverpool down it all went a bit cold.
It was claimed Madrid president Florentino Perez wasn’t all that fussed anyway. He didn’t want to make a similar mistake to Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele signing and pay a huge fee off the back of one amazing season.
Salah to Madrid came back a little, with a claim he could leave if Liverpool win the Champions League, but the obsession was dying.
Well, it seems Don Balon skipped their ‘Anti-Salah-Obsession’ tablets today, because they’ve gone overboard.
There’s now ‘absolute optimism’ Real Madrid can make the move happen. It’s stated twice that Perez and Madrid are ‘convinced’ Salah will make the move. ‘There is no plan b’, it’s Salah or Salah.
Liverpool will ‘battle’ but Perez ‘has the weapons’ to get his man. And those weapons are €150m plus a player.
Go and see the nurse, Don Balon.
