After a disappointing and troublesome start to the season under Julen Lopetegui, things have been better for Real Madrid since Santiago Solari took charge.
However, the same cannot be said about Isco as the midfielder has not started a game under the Argentine and this has seen him being linked with an exit.
Spanish website El Gol Digital claims Los Blancos manager is pushing his employer to complete the ‘shocking operation’ to replace Isco in the squad and this means signing Manchester United’s Juan Mata.
The former Chelsea star’s deal at Old Trafford will expire after this season and the report says the 30-year-old has no plans to sign a new deal with the Red Devils.
For this reason, Solari believes bringing Mata back to La Liga in January will be an ‘absolute bargain’.
Considering the lack of options Jose Mourinho has on the right side of his attack, he is unlikely to give his blessing for this transfer, and swapping Isco for Mata is surely a rumour which isn’t going to gain much traction in Spain.
