It wasn’t so long ago that Chelsea were considered to be in a battle for the Premier League title, yet after a run of poor results they find themselves eighth in the division.
Currently seven points behind Liverpool and Manchester United, despite the Blues having played a game more than both, Chelsea are three points away from the top four, again with the teams around that position having played less matches.
This has inevitably brought focus to the future of manager Frank Lampard, and the rumours have started about possible successors.
On Monday after, Le10 Sport report Roman Abramovich is considering the option of Andriy Shevchenko, who, just like Lampard, used to play for Chelsea.
Shevchenko is currently Ukraine manager, and having got them to Euro 2020, which has been postponed until later this year, it may be doubtful that he’d want to give up the tournament, even for a job in the Premier League.
Such a move would surely be far likelier after the tournament, so if Chelsea want to make a change before then then it’s likelier they’d look at other options first.
