On March 28th, we covered a report from Mundo Deportivo, who explained that Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann is ready to take pay cut to join Barcelona in the summer.
The World Cup winner gets a mention on the front page of the same newspaper today and it reads ‘appointment with Griezmann’ and the forward is said to be a ‘serious candidate’ for the attack of the La Liga winners.
Diego Simeone’s side will travel to the Camp Nou on Saturday to face the Blaugrana and the report claims the 28-year-old’s desire would be to represent Barca next season.
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is aware fans are not in the favour of the France international’s signing following his decision to snub the club last summer.
Mundo cites Catalunya Radio and claims technical secretary Eric Abidal has already held talks with Griezmann about the possibility of joining Ernesto Valverde’s side and Bartomeu would also intervene in making the final decision on the attacker. 
Abidal’s conversation with his compatriot comes as the latest development, and despite fans being against the move it seems clear that Barcelona continue to view the World Cup winner as a possibility.
