Chelsea are in the market for a new centre-back in the summer window after the Blues saw both Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rüdiger left Stamford Bridge as free agents.
The former has joined Barcelona, while the Germany international has completed a move to join their arch-rivals, Real Madrid.
Barca announced the 26-year-old’s arrival earlier this week, with the defender having a photo shoot with the home shirt, followed by a media event today.
He will be accompanied by the La Liga side’s president, Joan Laporta, and their sporting director, Mateu Alemany.
The Denmark international, who has just left Chelsea, has admitted it was his long-term dream to play for the Catalan club.
“I am very proud. It is a dream that I have had for a long time. I am very grateful to the president, vice president, Mateu and Jordi [Cryuff]. It is a dream come true,” the former Blues man said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the fans in the stadium, I can’t wait to get started,” he added.
Christensen has signed a four-year deal with Xavi Hernández’s side. He has become the Spanish giants’ second signing of the summer transfer window.
After spending 10 years at Chelsea, including two years at the west London club’s academy, the centre-back will now start a new adventure at the Camp Nou.
