Arsenal watched André Silva once again over the weekend, with a scout on the official club released list.
With the result, Benfica kept themselves on top of the table, with a five-point advantage over Sporting and Porto.
Although Porto had a better game, striker André Silva had a disappointing performance. He couldn’t show much against Benfica’s defence and didn’t pose much of a threat for Porto.
But with 10 goals and three assists this season, there’s no big reason for worry, as Arsenal have been scouting Porto week after week. The Gunners have been linked to him during the summer, when Arsene Wenger was described as a “big admirer”.
André’s partner in attack Diogo Jota is the one who had a good performance. The player, who’s on loan from Atletico Madrid (Porto have an option to buy), scored the home side’s goal and was chosen as the man of the match. Midfielder Oliver Torres, also from Atletico, had a very good game as well.
Other players from these clubs, such as Benfica’s fullbacks Nelson Semedo and Alex Grimaldo, have had their names linked to the Gunners in the past few months. But unlike André Silva, it hasn’t been overly pushed.
