Chelsea loanee Nathan de Souza shouldn’t be returning to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Reports from Portugal had already said he should stay at Belenenses for longer, and today the striker has confirmed it himself.
Nathan has spoken to Brazilian outlet Lance, and claimed to be pretty comfortable in his loan spell at the Liga NOS side.
“I should stay another year in Portugal, it’s my wish. It was a club that opened the doors for me, received me well,” Nathan told Lance.
“The manager is Silas, who was a great player, and having him as a manager helped me a lot. It’s a guy who played in the same position as I play.”
“I’m letting go, I don’t know when this chance will appear. I have been growing as a person and as a player living in Europe and soon this dream of a Premier League will take place.”
Nathan has revealed that it’s the former Chelsea player Paulo Fonseca who monitors him during his loan spell at Belenenses. The Brazilian knows how Chelsea pay attention to his performances, and is pretty sure that the club have faith in his potential.
“They follow my steps, are always in Portugal, making videos and statistics. They bring everything I need to improve, what I need to do well. Paulo is very attentive, I like the attention that Chelsea give me, it means they have great expectations on me.”
Signed by Chelsea from Brazilian side Atlético-PR in 2015, Nathan has previously been loaned to Vitesse and Amiens, and has played for Belenenses since January 2018. The striker’s contract with the Blues expires in 2020.
