In case Wolverhampton Wanderers sign João Cancelo from Valencia this summer, it seems that it’s the Spanish club who will really celebrate the transfer.
That’s what we take from Plaza Deportiva’s story today, and the outlet claims that the La Liga side are making all the efforts to get the player sold this month.
They report Valencia are playing their strongest card in the deck, Jorge Mendes, to get this transfer done.
The super agent, who’s been helping the club in the past couple of seasons, has been making big efforts to move the player permanently this summer.
Plaza Deportiva names all the clubs who Mendes has good access at, which would be Wolves, Manchester City, Chelsea, PSG, Napoli, Juventus, Monaco. Then they analyse the chance of each one getting the signing.
With the Premier League pointed out as the best destination for the player, Wolves are named as the most likely club. That’s because Manchester United are signing Diogo Dalot, Arsenal signed Stephan Lichtsteiner, Manchester City spent a lot of money on Kyle Walker and Danilo, and Chelsea need to sort out their manager situation first.
The friendship between Nuno Espírito Santo and Jorge Mendes would be an important factor in the move, especially because the manager knows the player for a long time. The agent’s work with the Fosun group is obviously the reason why Wolves are in such a position in the dispute.
But despite knowing that Jorge Mendes is on the job, Plaza Derportiva doesn’t bring any big news on the talks with the clubs. They just make it clear that Valencia need the money this month to be safe with Financial Fair Play, and super hero, or agent, Mendes is the one responsible for it.
