At the end of the summer 2017 transfer window, Stefano Denswil almost moved to Brighton & Hove Albion.
It wasn’t just a transfer rumour, the Club Brugge player visited the club’s facilities and a deal was expected to be done. Brighton wanted to sign Denswil on loan and have a buying option this summer.
Then an injury to Benoît Poulain saw Club Brugge pull out of negotiations, and the player was quoted as saying: “I was open for conversations with other teams. That’s why I traveled to Brighton. It remains my ambition to step up to a higher level. Only all parties must be able to agree, which was not the case.”
The Belgian side have gone on to win the title, and it’s now expected players will leave. Club Brugge are being open about that, not wanting to force anyone to stay who really wants out.
Brighton are mentioned in the article, and how close a deal came to happening.
There’s no claims of talks commencing again at this stage, but a move to the Premier League club has to be a reasonable chance.
