The will-he-won’t-he question over Newcastle United owned Matz Sels remaining at Anderlecht needs to be answered soon.
For a long time there’s been a will from both sides to move for a full transfer, either through a loan with an obligation clause, if certain targets are met, or a straight transfer.
Now Anderlecht are pushed even more into wanting to keep Sels, because back-up Frank Boeckx has a worrying hernia issue.
Het Belang van Limburg report Anderlecht ‘are doing everything’ to secure the Newcastle United transfer, but there’s no actual explanation of what they’re doing.
If ‘doing everything’ involves paying Newcastle what they want then this is relatively easy to complete. But, really, that ‘everything’ will be more like ‘everything apart from spending a lot of money’.
New Anderlecht chief Marc Coucke would like everything sorting out within two weeks, explain the Belgian newspaper, but the power is surely all in his hands.
Just come up with a deal suitable to Newcastle United.
