Manchester City’s relationship with FC Girona is a bit like a big brother helping his sibling on the way up. Handing out advice and even players, the Premier League champions are guiding the Spanish club as best they can.

Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo says the relationship between the two clubs is ‘more alive than ever’ and evidence of this is a trip to Manchester this week by officials from Girona.

The Catalan newspaper says the club’s most important officials have travelled to England, and have been accompanied by Girona mayor Marta Madrenas.

Some were already in town for City’s title celebrations, and more have since travelled over. There’ll be meetings and events ‘throughout the week’ all aimed at passing as much advice to the La Liga club as possible.

Tours of Manchester City’s facilities will concentrate on whether there’s any ideas which can be transported back to Girona, and assist in progression plans.

The club are currently 9th in La Liga and have enjoyed a successful season which is of course partly due to their connections within the City Football Group.
