A week ago we covered claims from Portugal that West Ham have continued with their interest in Rodrigo Battaglia and are set to make an offer for the midfielder.
The Argentine would have caught the Hammers’ eye when the interest in William Carvalho was building and would now be the major target, at least according to A Bola.
It was claimed West Ham are preparing a €30m offer for the player, getting their work in ahead of the summer transfer window.
A day later the same newspaper went over the situation again and stated that West Ham would expect that offer to be accepted, despite the player having a €60m buyout clause at current club Sporting.
If the claims were to be believed then the Premier League club were in a good position because the other side which had showed interest, West Brom, looked set for relegation.
That remains the case, but now there’s more competition, this time from Italy.
Gazzetta dello Sport report AS Roma are keen on the player and especially so because he’s able to get an Italian passport, meaning he wouldn’t take up one of the club’s non EU places.
