Juventus are keeping an eye on Toby Alderweireld and have the player as an option should they need to bring in a central defender this summer.
The Turin club are well known for their in depth transfer plans and making sure they have options available, and the Belgian international is being kept as an option due to interest in Mehdi Benatia.
It’s claimed Marseille, still going through their ambitious rebuilding process, are interested in Benatia and should he wish to make the move, then Tuttosport don’t believe Juventus will completely close the door.
The Serie A champions would be looking for a fee over €35m for the 31 year old, and they’d use that to then replace him.
Alderweireld is one of the men on Juventus’ list to turn to just in case, but there’s a lot of ifs and buts.
If Juve are just looking for someone to alternate with others for the role then Alderweireld may not be keen, and he’d likely cost more than the €35m allocated anyway.
In addition, this would all depend on Marseille hitting that €35m figure for Benatia, which feels quite unlikely.
