Even if Alisson let in four goals against Barcelona and five against Liverpool, few will deny the fact the Brazilian is a very good goalkeeper, hence the interest from the Reds earlier on in the season.
Ahead of the return clash against Jürgen Klopp’s side on Wednesday, Gazzetta dello Sport had a long chat with the shot stopper, where they asked him about the rumours that were sending him to Anfield and Real Madrid.
Despite claiming he was fully focused on the task at hand, which is to ensure AS Roma makes it in the Champions League next season and see if they can turn things around against Liverpool, the 25-year-old couldn’t help but show some excitement at such clubs supposedly being after him.
He said: “I don’t know what will happen [in the summer]. Obviously, the interest makes me happy. I don’t think it’s a question of needing [to move]. I know what I’m worth, not money wise, but as a player. I know what I bring to the team, but I only think about the present. What happens next, we leave for later.”
Prior to their success in this season’s Champions League, Roma were in a position where they would have had to really consider any good offer for Alisson, but that isn’t the case anymore.
The fact the Serie A side have made it this far in the European competition means they’ll get more prize money, allowing them to meet FFP regulations without needing to sell.
And that could be key when it comes to their goalkeeper’s future.
