Normally when English clubs scout minor games from the Portuguese league, local newspapers hardly have any information explaining if the emissaries had an eye on some specific player.
However, today, newspaper O Jogo not only reveals the name of the scout, but also identifies the target who Arsenal are keeping an eye on.
According to the outlet, former player Luis Boa Morte has been watching Leixões lately, where he’s been taking reports of Derick Poloni’s performances.
The Brazilian left-back is said to be impressing at the Portuguese second division, and since his club are unlikely to get promotion this year, he’s set to leave them in the summer.
O Jogo doesn’t have any information on how strong Arsenal’s interest is, or if they’re really going for him this year.
But Poloni is already 24, so it’s not like the Gunners are waiting for him to get to a big club to know if he’ll prove himself at the top level or not.
This could be the work of Sven Mislintat, who the club took on to oversee scouting and find hidden gems.
