It all should have been sorted out by now. With ’48 hours’, ‘the coming days’ and ‘imminent’ all having their meaning changed over the past couple of weeks, Paul Pogba to Manchester United really is the never ending story.
Italy’s specialist TuttoJuve says on Sunday that ‘the Frenchman is already in Manchester’ and waiting his medical, before everything is announced. That would obviously be a big step forward, so it was worth digging further.
TuttoJuve say they’ve got that from Il Messaggero.
Il Messaggero say Pogba is flying to Manchester, so TuttoJuve must have taken that literally and decided the flight can’t be so long. The Italian newspaper have a wonderful sentence, explaining the transfer ‘is about to take on the trappings of officialdom’.
They explain that everyone involved, mainly sponsors, want to give ‘maximum visibility’ to the event so it may not be announced until early next week, with Sunday being a quiet day media wise.
Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting similar, as are French newspaper L’Equipe, but the latter take their story from the former.
