Eibar’s attempts to get Dani Garcia to renew have so far been fruitless.
Several Spanish clubs are interested in the midfielder and there’s been claims he’s set to join Athletic Club Bilbao once his contract ends in June.
The Basque club only recruit players from their own region, or with very strong ties to it, so the opportunity is one they won’t see go without a fight.
Spanish newspaper AS reports that Real Betis and Levante have also been keen, and there’s ‘temptation’ from the Premier League in the form of Southampton and Newcastle United.
The interest from England was also reported in the run up to the January window, when Eibar still had an opportunity to make money from their player.
If Southampton and/or Newcastle remain serious then they’ll need to work fast to beat the Basque club.
Garcia himself is being ‘discreet’ about the situation, explain AS, keen that Eibar’s fans don’t think he’s not currently committed to the club’s cause.
