It’s no secret that Portuguese clubs love including weird clauses in their players’ contracts.
In order to stop their stars from leaving, the local sides want to be ready to change release clauses at any time, or even paying for their own players to stay and fullfil their contracts.
This is the case of William Carvalho, who according to Jornal de Notícias today, is getting a good amount of money in case Sporting reject an offer for him in the summer.
The newspaper claims that the Lions must pay William €500k in case a bid is turned down, and the clause is active until the end of the next transfer window.
Jornal de Notícias doesn’t say who could be making an offer for William in the summer, although we all know that West Ham would be one of the interested sides.
After failing to sign the player last year, the Hammers continue to have emissaries watching games in Lisbon, with the local press being sure that it’s William who they are keeping an eye on.
As West Ham were really close on finding a deal with Sporting last summer, maybe these €500k would be one more argument to convince the Lisbon side to accept their offer.
