As Leicester City continue with their shopping plans in Portugal, it was time to watch a good league match this weekend.
According to newspaper O Jogo, the Foxes were one of the few clubs who had scouts present at Estádio do Dragão this Sunday, where Porto thrashed Rio Ave 5-0 and stayed on top of the table.
As some Leicester City fans may remember, the club already had emissaries watching Porto last week, when the Dragons were destroyed by Liverpool in the Champions League’s round-of-16, also with a 5-0 score.
Unlike last week, there were quite a few positives to take from Porto’s team this time. Tiquinho Soares and Marega scored a brace each, showing that the attack is back on track. Left-back Alex Telles, who made two assists, was picked as the man of the match by the local press.
Although Leicester keep visiting the Estádio do Dragão, it’s still not clear who they are keeping an eye on, so maybe we will only know their targets when summer comes.
Other clubs who sent emissaries to this game were Manchester United, Newcastle United, Lens, Celta Vigo, Deportivo La Coruña and Atalanta.
The Foxes also watched Benfica over the weekend, with local reports saying they’re still keeping an eye on Andre Almeida. It seems clear the Premier League club plan to recruit further from Portugal, and their plans ahead of the summer window are being geared towards that.
