It’s all going off on Leander Dendoncker.
Earlier today we covered claims from Belgium’s Walfoot that the midfielder was waiting for an offer from West Ham that was good enough to please Anderlecht.
Walfoot isn’t a news source we’re very familar with, but not so long after their report came claims from HLN, who we believe to be reliable, that West Ham had indeed put an offer in but had it rejected.
Then Dendoncker missed Anderlecht’s second training session today, and Walfoot now say that was due to ‘illness’. Of course it sounds very much like transferitis rather than a genuine complaint, and Walfoot believe a deal is still possible.
In a Wednesday evening article they claim Dendoncker still wants to move to West Ham, and that the Premier League club are ‘still negotiating’ with Anderlecht to get a deal done.
That would fit in with the last update from Belgium, which was that the player has returned to Anderlecht’s offices accompanied by his father.
Watford are no longer in the picture, according to the claims.
Walfoot believe it’ll take ‘at least €20m’ to convince the Belgian club.
West Ham fans will hope this gets over the line so they don’t look back in anger on a final day deal that could have been.
