Emre Can wants to play for Liverpool in the second half of the season, rather than being ostracised by the club and damaging his chances ahead of the World Cup.
Tuttosport report in their Sunday edition that Juventus are working hard to try and finalise the signing of Can on a free deal. The German’s contract ends in June and that means he can now talk to other clubs and even sign a contract.
Juventus want Can to do just that, commit himself officially to being a Juventus player from the summer onwards. Then the Turin club could announce the deal and have no worry over anyone else coming in to steal him.
Can is, however, holding them off. The midfielder doesn’t want to upset Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, and is worried if he signs a contract for Juventus that could see him pushed out of the Anfield picture.
There’s a worry that spending the rest of the season as a bit part player, or even in the stands, could be the punishment dished out by Liverpool if they find out Can has already committed to Juventus.
This is all making Juve rather nervous.
Who knows, a great few months at Anfield may see Emre Can decide that’s where he wants to be for the next few years.
