Nantes coach Rene Girard is hoping he can bring in a forward before the transfer deadline because he’s not convinced by Yacine Bammou. The Morocco international looks to be on the verge of leaving Nantes, and has been linked with a move to England with Leeds United and Aston Villa.
Buzz Sport have reported Girard is hoping he can convince Nante’s president Waldemar Kita to sign a forward in this transfer window due to his side’s failings in front on goal. Girard was critical of his forwards for missing chances in a recent pre-season friendly, with has heaped more pressure on Bammou.
The 24-year-old is the only recognised forward at the club due to Emiliano Sala being sidelined with injury, but Nantes are still prepared to let him leave this summer if they can bring in a replacement.
Leeds United and Aston Villa have been tracking Bammou for the past few weeks as they look to bolster their attacking options for next season. Nantes are prepared to listen to offers for the player, who has also been linked with Toulouse.
However, the Ligue 1 side don’t see Bammou as their prime target following the departure of star forward Wissam Ben Yedder, and a move to England could still happen for the Nantes player.
