Club Brugge have officially confirmed they’ve signed KV Mechelen defender Ivan Tomecak.

With Laurent de Bock on the verge of joining Leeds United Brugge needed to find a replacement, and the Croatian has now been signed by the Belgian side.

Brugge last night confirmed on their website that Tomecak had signed a 3 and half year deal with the club, after an agreement was made with Mechelen.

Despite being predominately a right back, the player is comfortable playing at left back, and he’s played in that position for Mechelen, especially last season.

Tomecak has now joined up with his new teammates in Spain, and as he arrived at the Marbella hotel De Bock was leaving to hold talks with Leeds United.

Earlier today we covered reports from Belgium that Leeds United will today continue to hold talks to sign the 25 year old, and a medical is now expected.

It’s also been reported De Bock has been offered a four and half year deal by the Championship side.

The Yorkshire Post’s Phil Hay today tweeted that De Bock is undergoing a Leeds United medical, as talks continue. With Club Brugge bringing in their own cover, and allowing De Bock to travel and have a medical, an announcement could be imminent.
