Dundee captain James McPake believes his club teammate Greg Stewart will be a big hit if he does make the move to England this summer. The latest club to be linked with Stewart is Birmingham City, whilst Leeds United have been tracking the 26-year-old in recent weeks.
Speaking to the Dundee Evening Telegraph McPake was asked about the speculation surrounding Stewart with a move to the Championship this summer. The Dundee skipper said he’s played at Championship level, and believes Stewart wouldn’t have an issue adapting to that level.
McPake think the forward is an intelligent player, and believes he’s destined make the next step in his future.
“I’ve played in the league which is being spoken about and Greg will handle that no problem. He’s a very intelligent footballer and no matter where he goes he will not be out of place. I felt as soon as I saw him he would be destined to move on to a very high level,” said McPake.
Stewart has just 12 months left on his current contract with Dundee, and has been linked with a move to the Championship with Leeds United and Birmingham City.
There have been reports in the last 24 hours Birmingham City are in pole position to sign the player, and preparing an improved offer after having a bid of £300k rejected.
