Leonardo Bonucci has been one of the most commented names in the transfer market for the past couple of years. After a successful spell at Juve, the departure from the Old Lady could’ve sent him to several different interested clubs, until he ended up signing for league rivals Milan last summer.

But it turns out that his name is already back in the papers, this time being linked to clubs from outside of Italy, who are also looking for a solid defender in the January transfer market.

Website Calciomercato has a story about the situation today, saying that both Barcelona and Manchester City could be possible destinations for the player in the January market.

Barcelona will need a man to replace Javier Mascherano at the club, and Manchester City could go back for the man they already tried to sign with a €50m bid in the past.

Bonucci has obviously joined Milan just six months ago, and the transfer is only being considered because his start for the Rossoneri hasn’t exactly been the best.

The club and the player would analyze any bid that comes, but Milan certainly won’t accept any loss after spending €42m to take him from Juve last summer.

Now would Pep Guardiola spend that big in the winter market? After all, he’s made it clear he needs defensive reinforcements in January.

If their ambition is to win the Champions League as well as the Premier League, a defender with a lot of experience in the competition would certainly go a long way.
