Several times, we’ve cover stories about players who have ‘agreed’ to join English clubs, and even after the deal collapses (or never happens), we never hear about the rumour again.
But sometimes there’s a reason for that, and that’s what O Jogo are explaining about Pelé’s move to Wolverhampton.
The Benfica player had reportedly agreed a €2m move, but a few hours before flying to England, an injury ended up calling off the transfer.
Pelé reportedly fractured a metatarsal and is having a surgery next Tuesday. He’s expected to be sidelined for three months, ruling out a transfer.
O Jogo says that the intention is now to leave the player at Benfica B and then negotiate him again in January. However, it’s not certain that Wolverhampton will try to sign Pelé one more time.
Wolves have already signed the former Benfica players Hélder Costa and Sílvio in the past week. Anderson Talisca and Ivan Cavaleiro have been recently linked to the English club as well.
